al-khwarizmi
c. 780 - 847 CE
Muhammad al-Khwarizmi was an Islamic
philosopher/scientist who is best known for
being the first person to measure the earth. He
used a tool called an astrolabe to calculate the
cirumference. The result he got was surprisingly
accurate to the true circrumference of the
planet. al-Khwarizmi also worked at the House of
wisdom, where he contributed his works.
